How to Use

Joschem's PREMIUM Wood Filling Fluid™

Fill cracks, holes, dents, and surface defects on any kind of wood or lumber. It can also be used to restore wood.
Important! Read Safety Instructions Before Using

STEP 1 Collect Your Sawdust

Gather your wood dust / wood powder from the collection bags on your sander. Remember, you want really fine dust!

Make It Better: Please note that the repair will be darker than the original wood powder used. If a near perfect match of the repaired area is desired, it’s best to accumulate a range of different shades of wood powders so that you can select the appropriate shade for the result you desire. Once filled, the repair will take stain.

Speed It Up: Organize and store dust from various wood types and shades to make future repairs less time-consuming.

STEP 2 Fill the Defect

After gathering your wood dust, use it to pack the damage / defect in the wood. Press the dust into the defect as tightly as you can, using your fingers.

Fix It Right: Leave a slightly raised, or convex, surface of wood powder on top of the packed defect area.

For Larger Projects: If your project has a large defect, repeat this step until the defect is filled.

STEP 3
Apply Joschem Wood Filler

Moving quickly, liberally apply several drops of the Joschem wood filler to the powder-filled defect area.

Apply until the wood dust is thoroughly wet.

Use Caution: Avoid getting Joschem wood filler on wood surfaces that are not filled with wood dust.

For Shallow Repairs

Build up the repair by adding more wood powder to the top of the defect, after applying Joschem.

Pat the wood dust into the wet surface with your fingers.

After you're finished, wash your hands immediately with warm, soapy water.

STEP 4
Joschem Bonds to Wood

In 10 to 20 seconds after applying Joschem’s Wood Filling Fluid™, a chemical reaction will take place, releasing a white smoke-like substance.

Safety First: Avoid inhaling the “smoke”.

After the smoke has dissipated, the reaction is complete. The filled surface will be hot to touch.

For Extremely Hard and Dry Wood

The effectiveness of the repair may be limited.

Increase the strength of your repair by creating “anchor” holes in the side walls of the repair lumber. Repeat step two.

On your second fill, also try using the dust of a softer wood type.

STEP 5  Ready to Finish

Saw, plane, mill, drill, spindle, rout, or sand - your repaired wood is ready to go!

Joschem-filled pieces are also immediately ready to be finished with stain, lacquers, or paints.

Stronger with Joschem: Your repaired lumber is now as strong, if not stronger, than the original piece. The repair will hold an edge as well as the untreated piece and will not shrink or crack with age.

How To Apply A Clear Finish

Please note that the repaired area might appear slightly darker than the surrounding piece.

To correct this, try using a slightly lighter colored wood dust during step two.
